How to fix the Google Shopping Feed if your products don’t have unique identifiers?

Google Shopping might flag an issue on your feed products that tells you to add identifiers like MPN or GTIN.

If you sell handmade or one-off or unique products, it is likely that you don’t have MPN or GTIN numbers for them.

How to fix this?

Google Shopping Product Feed allows you to set a special “Identifier exists” variable to “No” on each product. When you do that, Google knows your products don’t have unique IDs and will no longer complain.

To do this go to Google Merchant Center > Products > Feeds > click on the feed > feed rules.

Now add a feed rule to set identifier exists to the value no.

Is it ready now?

Yes – from now on, all existing products and every new product you add to your Google Product Feed, will have the identifier exists variable set to no.

⚠️You might have to wait up to 24h for Google to apply changes to your Product Feed.
